Pregnancy is an exciting time, but it can also bring changes to your body that may leave you feeling uncomfortable. As your baby grows, your posture, balance, and the way you move can change significantly. These changes may contribute to low back discomfort, hip pain, pelvic discomfort, muscle tension, and other aches and pains.
At McCleary Chiropractic, we provide gentle, individualized chiropractic care for moms throughout pregnancy. Our goal is to help you feel comfortable, supported, and confident as your body changes.
Located on the North Side of Evansville, we proudly provide prenatal chiropractic care to expecting mothers throughout Evansville and the surrounding communities.
How Pregnancy Can Affect Your Body
As pregnancy progresses, your body naturally adapts to accommodate your growing baby. Your center of gravity shifts, your posture can change, and your joints and muscles may experience additional stress.
Common concerns during pregnancy can include:
- Low back discomfort
- Hip discomfort
- Pelvic discomfort
- Sacroiliac (SI) joint discomfort
- Muscle tension and tightness
- Changes in posture
- Difficulty getting comfortable while sleeping
- Increased pressure on the low back and pelvis
While these changes are a normal part of pregnancy, you don’t necessarily have to simply “push through” discomfort.
Gentle Chiropractic Care for Expecting Moms
Prenatal chiropractic care is designed with the changing needs of your body in mind. At McCleary Chiropractic, we take the time to understand your pregnancy, your concerns, and your goals before developing an individualized care plan.
Your treatment may include gentle chiropractic adjustments and other techniques appropriate for your stage of pregnancy.
Our goal is not to force your body into a particular position. Instead, we work with your body’s natural movement and changes throughout pregnancy.
Webster Technique
Dr. Grant McCleary is Webster Technique certified and incorporates pregnancy-appropriate chiropractic care when indicated.
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic technique designed to address pelvic and sacral biomechanics during pregnancy. It focuses on the sacrum and surrounding soft tissues with the goal of improving pelvic function.
Because every pregnancy is different, care is individualized based on your needs and comfort level.
When Should I See a Prenatal Chiropractor?
There is no single point in pregnancy when you “should” see a chiropractor. Some women seek care early in pregnancy, while others begin when they start experiencing discomfort.
You may consider chiropractic care if you are experiencing:
- Low back or hip discomfort
- Pelvic discomfort
- Muscle tightness
- Changes in posture
- Difficulty moving comfortably
- Discomfort related to the physical changes of pregnancy
Chiropractic care can also be part of a proactive approach to maintaining mobility and comfort as your pregnancy progresses.
What Can I Expect at My First Visit?
Your first visit begins with a conversation. We want to learn about your pregnancy, your health history, what you’re experiencing, and what you hope to accomplish with care.
After an appropriate examination, we’ll explain what we’re finding and discuss whether chiropractic care may be appropriate for you.
If you choose to move forward, we’ll create a plan based on your individual needs.
Your comfort matters. If a technique doesn’t feel comfortable, we’ll modify it.
Chiropractic Care Throughout Pregnancy
Your body changes throughout each trimester, so your chiropractic care may change along with it.
First Trimester
Early pregnancy can bring changes in energy, posture, and muscle tension. We focus on providing care that is comfortable and appropriate for your individual needs.
Second Trimester
As your belly grows and your center of gravity changes, additional stress may be placed on the low back, hips, and pelvis. Chiropractic care can be tailored to accommodate these changes.
Third Trimester
During the later stages of pregnancy, mobility and comfort can become increasingly important. We use pregnancy-appropriate techniques designed to accommodate your changing body.
A Family-Focused Chiropractic Office
At McCleary Chiropractic, we believe chiropractic care should feel personal. We are a family-owned and operated office, and we enjoy caring for patients through all stages of life—including pregnancy and the transition into parenthood.
Our goal is to provide a comfortable, welcoming environment where you never feel like just another appointment.
